  • Tickets to Entertainment Events

    The resale of tickets to entertainment events (including sports contests, music concerts and plays) is regulated in a number of states and municipalities. Some of these laws even prohibit the resale of tickets that exceed the price printed on the ticket, or limit the profit that you can make from such a resale.

    To assist users and promote lawful ticket sales, Details.at has identified some states that regulate event ticket sales below. If you are selling tickets on Details.at to an entertainment event in one of the states or provinces listed below, you may not ask for or accept bids above the amounts described below.

    Details.at ticket policies are based on the LOCATION OF THE EVENT , and apply regardless of where the buyers and sellers reside.

    ALL listings for tickets to entertainment events must include the state where the event will occur. Further, if you are listing tickets to an entertainment event taking place in one of the below states or provinces, your listing MUST also include the face value of the ticket, and inform potential bidders by including the following text in your description:

    Due to laws regulating ticket sales in this area, the seller in this auction will not accept any bids above the total face value printed on the ticket(s) [plus $ __ permitted in some states]. Do not bid more than this amount. Bids that exceed this amount are void and will be cancelled by the seller. The seller will end the auction if, and when, this price is met.

    Ticket Packages:

    What about listings that package event tickets with other items, such as personal meetings with the celebrity, backstage passes to a concert, or throwing out the first pitch at a ballgame?

    Ticket packages may be listed on Details.at, and are not subject to Details.at's ticket policy -- ticket package listings are not limited to the face value of the time, and need not include the required-required text. To qualify as a "ticket package," the listing must not offer the high bidder an option to purchase the tickets alone, and must include either:

    1. At least one item or experience of substantial value related to the ticket event that the seller has coordinated with the event promoter, team, manager, artist, or venue, such as a backstage pass, a meeting with the performer, or an "experience" such as being a ballboy at a baseball game;

    OR

    2. A complete travel package around the event, including BOTH air transportation to the event location and commercial lodging for at least one night. Listings that offer tickets without these travel arrangements do not qualify as travel packages under this policy.

    For events in states or countries that regulate ticket sales, tickets may not be packaged with other items unless the listing qualifies as a ticket package.

    There is no specific Details.at policy on listings of tickets to events in other states or countries. As always, users must ensure that their transaction complies with all applicable laws.
